Archived document

This is the privacy policy as it was published while CowinSlotNotifier was operating. The service was retired at the end of 2022 and no longer collects, receives or processes anything. The text is kept here as a record of what people were told at the time.

01

Scope

This policy explained what information the Cowin Slot Notifier mobile application collected, why it was collected, and how it was used, disclosed and protected. It applied to the application published by BitInfinity Web Solutions, a private company established under the laws of India with its registered office at No. 369, Rang Vistar Yojana, Veer Sawarkar Nagar, Kota — 324005, Rajasthan, India.

“You” and “your” referred to the user of the application. “Services” referred to any service offered through it.

02

Information collected

The application collected information about your device automatically, and nothing more. Specifically, it stored a device identifier used as a unique identifier, and a Firebase Cloud Messaging registration token.

It did not ask for or store a name, an email address, a postal address, or a payment method. It did not create user accounts.

  • Device identifier
  • FCM registration token
03

Use of information

The device identifier and registration token existed for one purpose: notification preferences. They were what allowed a notification about a slot you had subscribed to be delivered to your device and to nobody else's.

Vaccination availability itself was read from the Government of India's public CoWIN APIs at the moment it was needed. Slot, centre, district and PIN code data was not collected or stored by the application — it belonged to, and was served by, cowin.gov.in.

04

Your choices

You could choose whether to receive push notifications. Enrolment happened automatically when the app was installed, and could be reversed at any time — either from the Subscribed Centers menu inside the app, or through your device's own notification settings.

05

Security

Reasonable administrative, logical, physical and managerial measures were used to safeguard the information held, against loss, theft, and unauthorised access, use and modification — measures intended to be appropriate to the risk of processing information of this kind.

Data was stored with Amazon Web Services, on servers located in India. Amazon Web Services publishes its own security and privacy documentation covering that infrastructure.

06

After the shutdown

The service stopped operating at the end of 2022. The device identifiers and push tokens it held ceased to be used for any purpose, and no notifications have been sent since. Because no personal profiles were ever built, there is nothing of that kind to retain, transfer or delete.
